Kerala land Information Mission(KLIM)

About the Mission

As per G.O.(Ms)No.346/2008/RD dtd: 17-10-2008 Kerala Land Information Mission was constituted under the Revenue department for the modernization of cadastral survey and digitization of survey records etc. for bringing better land management and governance in the State. Under the Mission Bhoomikeralam project were also constituted for the resurvey forest right survey and special survey projects etc. The various programs under this Mission are carried out by utilizing both CSS fund of Digital India Land Records Modernization Program (DILRMP) and funds from DSLR.

Based on the decisions of previous Empowered Committees (EC) meetings and utilizing the CSS fund of DILRMP, Mission brought out various modernization and positive changes in the Survey department and few among them are online map delivery to the citizen through ‘e-rekha’ project, introduction of digital survey data generation in GIS environment, abolition of erroneous chain and cross-staff survey method to modern survey method, combined use of Electronic Total Station (ETS) and Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) in survey, introduction of universally accepted geo-coordinate system (WGS-84) in survey practices, publication of modern survey manual etc. In short, Mission brought out drastic changes in the traditional cadastral survey practices to a modern system.

Divisions and functions:

The Mission has four principle units in the State Headquarters, viz.

  1. State Project Office – housing the main Project Management Unit of the Mission
  2. Stores and Logistics Unit that accounts, maintains (arranging repair and AMC) and ensures need-based distribution of all modern Survey Equipment’s (transferred from DSLR and procured by Mission) across the State for various survey projects.
  3. Central Digitization Centre (specializing in the digitization of spatial data)
  4. GPS Unit – Statewide Ground Control Point fixing and its observation.

Apart from the above units, in 13 Districts, the District Digitization Centre is also currently functioning under the Mission in order to increase the rate of coverage of land record digitization activities. Deputy Director, Survey is designated as District Project Officers of Mission and who are coordinating the District level activities
