Mapping

Different types of Maps:
We even have the maps which were made years ago during the reign of various kings prepared based on the old survey. Survey records submitted by various villages across Kerala state surveys related to land acquisition and land tenor and maps created based on these records are preserved in different survey offices working under the Kerala Survey Department especially in Central Survey Office located at Vazhuthacaud.

Pattaya Survey

Patta is the ownership document by which the ownership of government land is legally transferred to private individuals or entities. The patta ( legal ownership document of land ) is normally granted to those people who do not own any land or who are holding the land for a considerable number of years. Patta is issued by the Land Tribunal which comes under Land Revenue Department. Patta is the essential document which proves the ownership of the land for transfer of ownership of the land. The Kerala Government Land Assignment rules 1964, The Kerala Government Land Assignment special rules 1993 and the Kerala Revenue Card Act 1999 are the important acts binding the distribution of patta.

The patta survey is done with the help of surveyors working under Government Survey Department. These surveyors demarcate the land , issue survey numbers and prepare sketch of the land.

LRM Services

Once the resurvey of a village is completed and the records are handed over to the Revenue Department, Public can pay the land tax of the land under their ownership in the village office based on those records. Once the resurvey records are handed over to the Land Revenue Department, any complaints or anomalies reported on resurvey should be attended at the respective village/taluk offices. Vide G.O(M.S) No.303/2017/Revenue dated 26.08.2017 , the responsibility of maintaining the land records and resolving complaints regarding resurvey is accorded to the Tahsildar (bhoorekha) .For the smooth disposal of such complaints, surveyors and head surveyors from Survey Department are temporarily posted in taluks.

Interstate Boundary Survey

Kerala shares its boundary with its neighbouring states Tamilnadum Karnataka and the Union Territary of Puducherry. Kerala-Tamilnadu boarder extends from the districts of Wayaynad to Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala-Karnataka boarder connects the districts Kasargode, Kannoor and Wayanad and the 3rd boarder, Kerala-Puducherry is shared by the districts Kozhikode and Kannoor

Printing

A litho press was initially functioning under Survey and Land Records at survey office. Litho press mainly printed block map. An offset press was established in Revenue Department during 2008. It printed forms and register needed for the thaluk and village offices. Currently as the re-survey works had started, the forms and registers needed for the Survey Department and printing works for Kerala Land Information Mission, ILDM are undertaken by this press. Additionally it undertakes printing works for Rissograph department.
